School Days by the Ravines of North Toronto

For over one hundred years, North Toronto kids have been educated beside, in and because of the ravines cutting through the neighbourhood. Come and hear the histories of the schools along the Burke Brook Ravine system and experiences of kids who cut through those ravines for school.

The tour will combine some documented histories, anecdotes gathered from alumni and some lost rivers knowledge.

START POINT: SW corner of Lawrence Ave W. and Chatsworth Drive (North parking lot of Lawrence Park Collegiate

Look for this to find us: Multi-coloured, oversized top-hat.

End Location: Entrance to Lawrence TTC station, a 12 minute walk back to the start point.

Public Transit Directions: From Lawrence station (Yonge line), take the 52 west to Elm Rd, From Lawrence W stn (Spadina line), take the 52 east to Chatsworth Dr.

Accessibility:

  • Curbs or steps (not wheelchair accessible)
  • Uneven terrain
  • Steep / arduous
  • Dogs welcome
  • We will descend into a ravine that's not wheelchair/walker accessible.

Parking Availability: Some parking on sidestreets around school.
